We’ve learned quite a bit in our first year of RVing. Starting with a 29ft travel trailer and now having a 43 ft fifth-wheel, we’ve learned you can get many accessories and tools to make set-up (and tear-down) easier on you. While everyone you meet will have their own advice on this, we thought we would compile a list of our top five items to get for your new RV. These items will help you get leveled, hooked up to water, and hooked up to sewer. All of these are easily picked up at a Camping World near you, or ordered online through Camping World.
1. Drinking Water Hose
Having a clean hose to supply water to your faucets is essential! This EVO Flex Drinking Water Hose is made in the United States and ideal for RV use.

It is flexible making it easy to store in between camping trips. It also features nickel-plated machined fittings and is drinking water safe (lead and BPA-free).
2. Camco Sewer Hose Kit
Not so fun to talk about (or be the one that has to empty it) but sewer hoses are definitely essential if you are hooked up at a campground. Keep in mind, if you have more than one toilet in your RV (like our fifth-wheel), you are going to need more than one set of sewer hoses.

We bought the Camco Rhino Flex RV Sewer Hose Kit. This one includes the hose and swivel fittings and comes all ready to use. They are made with the toughest hose you can be. What we love about these is that they are collapsible, so you only have to extend as much hose as you need. You will find that each campsite needs a different amount of hose. This is a very useful feature!
Check out this video on how we installed a sewer hose storage container, since our fifth-wheel only came with one yet we have two sewer hoses:
3. Fifth Wheel Stabilizer Jack Stand
Being new to the fifth-wheel family, we didn’t realize we needed this! It is an adjustable stabilizer stand to put under our fifth wheel in the front when parked.

This one is the Husky Towing Adjustable Fifth Wheel King Pin Stabilizer Jack Stand. Its purpose is in the name: to stabilize your fifth wheel. You will level your fifth-wheel, but having this under the fifth wheel will help take out some of the bounce from the front end.
We noticed the bounce especially after putting in our washer and dryer (also from Camping World), which sit in the very front of the RV, making the whole thing shake. This helps with that.
4. Tire Locking Chocks
Tire Chocks are placed between your tires for added stabilization and for preventing tire shifts when parked.

This kind is the Bal-X Chock Tire Locking Chocks, 2-pack and are made in the US. They are considered lightweight and a slimmer design than some other kinds. In our travel trailer we had a hard time fitting the old ones between the tires, but this slimmer design fits much better.
5. Level Mate Pro
This thing is a game changer! Ever see the guy running around his camper checking every angle on his camper (inside and out) with a carpenter’s level? You don’t have to be that guy with this contraption.

It’s the Level Mate Pro Wireless Vehicle Leveling System. We had it in our travel trailer and now have it in our fifth wheel. It mounts to the wall in the camper and syncs to your phone. I can still be sitting in my truck and can tell if the camper has to go up front or back or side to side just by looking at my phone. So easy to use and setup. Game changer in the leveling world!
We are sure these essentials are enough to help you get your camper level and hooked up for a great RVing experience. We love going to Camping World locations to see the products we are going to buy in person, rather than ordering something online and having it not be the right thing when we get it. As full-time RVers, you know how hard it can be to get mail. Stop by Camping World and get these and all the other accessories you may need in your RVing journey!
