The Sun Outdoors in Myrtle Beach, SC was the first one on our travels that we thought “Wow, we could stay here for a long time!” It had absolutely everything you could want in a campground. Honestly, the Sun Outdoors name is the best we’ve encountered. Every campground we’ve been to is super clean, and the staff and the campground amenities are amazing.
Here are the reviews of the other Sun Outdoors we’ve been to (Chincoteague Bay, Association Island, and Saco):
Each one of these has been such a beautiful campground and so clean. I remember thinking that the one in Saco, ME was almost too clean. Not even a pine cone out of place. Well, this one in South Carolina was just as nice!
If there are any of our campground rides to watch, this is the one. It is a bit long because we didn’t really play with the speed when editing it. You really just need to see the beauty of this campground and all the ground it covers. Check it out here (and make sure you subscribe on YouTube!).
This campground had all paved roads, so our video recording on our Ebikes came out quite well. It wasn’t the bumpy dirt roads like the last campgrounds that made for rough editing!
What I liked most about this campground was the palm trees everywhere. It really finally felt like we were in the South! Yes, palm trees mean South for me! That and gators!

We were in the newest section G of the campground which was in the far back right of the campground. This section was all concrete pads, which is great if you have a dog that eats rocks, as there weren’t any! The only downside is we couldn’t push our dog fence poles down into the ground (since it was concrete). But they held up pretty well anyway and no dogs got loose.

The sites were pretty standard in that if you were on the outside edge they were back-in sites. If you were in the middle it was a pull-through site. Other loops in the campground did have gravel spots, but this whole section G was all concrete. It made for a very clean outdoor rug and no dirt being carried into the camper!

What really stands out at this park is the amenities. Remember that we were there in November, so past the busy time of the summer when I’m sure everything is super busy. It was rather quiet here in November so we had free reign of things we wanted to do.
First I’ll mention the few things that were closed due to the season that it was. One, is the waterpark. This thing was quite big for a campground and had things like the splash bucket, splash pad, and lazy river. This apparently had just closed on November 1st. Understandably since it was getting to be about 50 degrees at night while we were there. I’m sure it’s fun in the summer!

There was also a small pool in our loop that was closed due to it being off-season. However, if you wanted to swim – there were plenty of other places!
There was a big “Serenity Pool” in the center common area that was heated. It was beautiful! There were lounge chairs all around it, changing rooms, etc. Through a fence next to it, you could also access an adults-only pool with two hot tubs as well. These are all open year-round and I’m sure very popular! It felt like you were sitting on the side of a cruise ship somewhere tropical!

Maybe sitting outside in the sun isn’t your thing or maybe it is a rainy day? They got you covered! Head indoors to the heated indoor pool and hot tub. Never have I seen one of these in a campground. It felt like we were staying at a fancy hotel!

It was so nice to go in there to swim laps, play around and soak in the hot tub. Have you ever seen a campground with an indoor pool, let alone one this nice? Me either!
And if you need more exercise, the indoor gym and yoga studio are there. We hit the gym one morning when it started to rain on our walk. Was quite different going from a 3-mile walk to using an elliptical. There were cardio machines, as well as punching bags and weight machines. Whatever your fancy!

If that didn’t quite tire you out (or excite you) enough, maybe try your hand in the arcade, bowling alley, or mini golf course. I said it had everything, right? Rain or shine, this campground had things for you to do.

There was a cool common area right in the middle of the campground that had all of the above amenities, but also had pool tables, cornhole, and fire pits. These areas must be very busy hangouts in the summer, but in November it was nice and quiet. Perfect place to chill in the evening.

Because this campground had so much to do, we didn’t really go out on the town that much. However, we did spend a rainy day at Ripley’s Believe it Or Not Aquarium in Myrtle Beach. This aquarium had all the sealife you could want to see. The coolest part in my opinion was the conveyor belt that takes you through the underside of the huge tank full of fish and sharks. How cool!

Check out the girls feeding the sting rays and touching Jellyfish!
Talk about a good science lesson! The Aquarium was decorated with Christmas decorations and a tree around the aquarium for each state in the US. I believe there was a scavenger hunt that you could do based on facts written about each state on these trees, but we opted out of doing that. Definitely check out this aquarium if you are in Myrtle Beach.
We did check out a local eatery that was right on Myrtle Beach when we went down to check out the local touristy shops. We ate at the Landshark Bar & Grill. I’ve become a fan of Fish Tacos that have Mahi Mahi in them. Jesse usually tries some sort of Fried Fish and the girls are usually quite happy with either burgers, chicken sandwiches, or mac n’ cheese. It sure is nice to eat out on the deck looking out at the ocean in November!

I don’t really need to go into full details about the laundry facilities (there were 4, I think, all around the campground), the pickleball courts, or the catch-and-release fishing ponds. All were amazing and beautifully kept. You should really experience it for yourself. But do be aware of these signs around the ponds. We really thought we might see a live gator after seeing these signs, but as of yet, we have not. Perhaps in Florida…
